For those who thought that Lewis Hamilton's talent had somehow vanished, or wasn't for real, the Singapore Grand Prix must have come as major wake up call. In the hot moisture and mysterious atmosphere of the Singapore streets, the reigning World Champion's path was flawless, and from Pole Position to Victory, he took no prisoners. His and Timo Glock's enthusiasm and happiness as they got out of their cars at the finish and embrassed their mechanics was a moment of joy, and the authorities managing the Parc Ferme would be well advised not to try, through fences or otherwise, to stop the unstoppable... Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso wasn't sharing any emotions for a third place that was in truth nearly equivalent to a victory, if you consider the performance level of the car he was driving... But his mind was elsewhere, in the aftermath of a scandal that has shaken F1 to the core, and will no doubt leave some scars.

And he did it again... What is it that gets Rubens flying the way he does? Why is it that Jenson seems unable to match the Brazilian geezer's awesome speed and efficiency? There are no easy answers, but for sure the Paulista is at the summum of his art, and is an example for all. And his joy on the podium was simply phenomenal, just like winning his first race! In the magnificent Parco di Monza, where so many Greats have left their mark during the past six decades, racing was what it was all about, the way it should be. No holding back, no presence of the almighty "safety" God, and no prisoners taken! It was as iff all the drivers were in a trance, and certainly Lewis Hamilton was the best example of this racing spirit, willing to take chances and loose it all for the reward of passing, which after all is the greatest thrill a driver can experience...

In Valencia, Rubens had written on his helmet "Felipe, see you on track soon!", and in a remarkable twist of Destiny, the Brawn driver managed to win his first Grand Prix this season, a victory clearly dedicated to his fellow Brazilian mate Felipe Massa, the Little Big Man of F1. An amazing victory for a man that many saw as "too old", and when I asked DC (David Coulthard) at the podium if he had any regrets witnessing this, his answer was, with a little smile "well yes, some...". Yes, we must never forget rule number one: "There are no rules".
